Second Annual Nine and Wine

Jul 2014

On July 20, 2014, The W-T Foundation hosted the second annual Nine and Wine golf outing at the Bridges of Polar Creek Country Club. Money raised will be given to the American Cancer Society and the foundation. The W-T Foundation was the dream of Scott Triphahn and was founded in 2007 as a 501©3 organization. Its purpose is to promote research in engineering and educational assistance through scholarships to engineering students who attend Hoffman Estates, Conant, or Schaumburg High Schools. To date, we have awarded twelve, $1,000 scholarships.

Attendance increased by fifty percent, with a turnout of fifty two golfers and nine additional attendees for wine and Hor D'oeuvres. Overall, we raised $6,000 in revenue!

Golf was a scramble format, with contests of longest drive (men and women), closest to the pin, and a cork chip contest. Golfers started at 4pm with a shotgun start. Our big winners of the day were Ryan Triphahn, Jacki Triphahn, Neri Lugo, and Brendan O'Neil. Congratulations! The winners will have their names forever engraved on the "Scott T. Cup," which will be displayed in W-T Engineering Inc.'s main lobby.

After wrapping up golf, the fun continued as golfers and other attendees poured into the gorgeous event area; which has been awarded as a "best of weddings" spot by theknot.com for the past three years. Participants had an opportunity to taste two whites and two reds of spicy Spanish wine. After enjoying the Hor D'oeuvres, contributors took part in the much anticipated raffle prize contest. Prizes included rounds of golf, hotel stays, gift certificates, Chicago Blackhawks tickets, Chicago Bulls attire and much more!

When all was said and done, this year's Nine and Wine was a huge success. As the W-T Foundation continues to support the growth of the engineering field and the American Cancer Society, we thank all of our generous sponsors:
