Rotating Internship Program
For years, the W-T Engineering Family of Companies has been utilizing interns to help complete work over the summer months. This opportunity allows students to gain exposure in their desired field of employment, all while learning on the job. This year, we decided to try a new format. Two students were chosen to participate in our first ever rotating internship program.
Samantha Acosta, a sophomore at University of Illinois, and Alison Mistretta, a junior at University of Iowa will be our first ever participants.
Utilizing our diverse array of services offered within W-T Engineering, these students will rotate on a weekly basis. After an initial training period, our interns will start a nine week rotation period amongst almost all of our divisions. The program is designed so they will learn and gain first-hand experience in each of the different engineering disciplines. Activities will include traveling with our land surveying group and participating in site visits, in addition to hands on design work.
This approach will help students gain a better understanding of the overall development process, opposed to focusing on one aspect.
In addition to our rotating program, we have also retained six additional interns working directly with individual groups. Zack Piepho will work with W-T Civil Engineering, LLC, Branden Wilfong and Chris Starke will work along leaders in W-T Communication Design Group, LLC, Chris Lanza will work with W-T Structural Engineering and W-T Mechanical / Electrical Engineering, and Dominick Ranallo and James Griggs will be working with W-T Mechanical / Electrical Engineering.
