WT Group provided HVAC and MEP Engineering services for an existing 71,000 square foot warehouse converted into an ice rink.

The New Ice Rink Design Features:

• State-of-the-art sports facility suited for major tournaments and special events with on-site restaurant.
• The Facility includes two (2) full NHL size sheets of ice, one (1) rink can accommodate ADA accessible activities and sled hockey.
• Spectator seating for 450 fans at each rink, 10 team locker rooms, and a full service pro shop.

The Mechanical System Incorporates:

• Two (2) roof mounted dehumidification units serve the ice rinks; each unit has an active desiccant dehumidification wheel, and gas fired post heating.
• Gas fired infrared heaters serve the Spectator Stands.
• Roof mounted exhaust fans for the toilet rooms, ice plant and ice resurfacer room.
• New equipment is Bacnet compatible for future connection to a building automation system.

The Plumbing System Incorporates:

• Our plumbing engineer had to think outside the box on this project when it came to designing the storm drainage system. This was because of the multiple roof levels, drainage areas, and complications of not being able to route piping under the ice rinks due to the existing sewer locations. All of these roadblocks created the need to run piping both under and above ground while still maintain proper elevations.
• Designed a pump system for the Zamboni ice melt pit, as well as a dedicated boiler system with storage tanks for the hot water for Zamboni fill.

The Electrical System Incorporates:

• Revised the existing electrical distribution system to accommodate the new facility.
• Designed new LED lighting system throughout the building with a control system to meet the 215 IECC Energy Code requirements.
• Designed power system for a new elevator, receptacles, HVAC and Plumbing equipment.
