In the early 1980’s, religious leaders of six Aurora churches and other concerned citizens formed a grassroots coalition to shelter, feed and clothe homeless individuals and families found walking on the street in adverse weather conditions. Known today as Hesed House, it serves as the second largest shelter in the state of Illinois and the largest shelter outside of the city of Chicago.
The renovation includes new toilet rooms, bathing area and laundry facilities located near the first level kitchen area and on the second floor, a new warming kitchen and laundry area located by the dormitories. Brian Ciesemier, Ken Meddings, and Adam Taylor of WT worked closely with Charles Vincent George Architect on this project.
WT Group is honored to support a much-needed organization like Hesed House.
